about the creator:

nebraska skateparks was created by me, david sockrider. nebraska skateparks is a combination of my love for design and skateboarding. i started riding in northern california in 1984 after seeing the bones brigade video show. while in california we spent most of our time riding backyard half-pipes, street ramps, drainage ditches and reservoir spillways. we did a lot of street skating in california but it usually ended with a security guard or the police chasing us.

check out this article about an old ditch we used to ride.
that place was so cool, no wonder they couldn't keep skaters outta there.

we used to ride this too: Uvas spillway, freakin huge!
we'd ride here also: derby park in santa cruz

here's some photos from the good ol' days.

i moved to nebraska in the late 80s and found a small but surviving skate scene. we mostly rode and built backyard half-pipes because there just wasn't anyplace else to skate. we'd take road trips to omaha and lincoln to ride also. we skated the old eat concrete skatepark and shredders skatepark in omaha. in lincoln we'd ride backyard halfpipes, the old pier one banks, the fish bowls, toad banks, etc. we'd take trips to norfolk to ride a drainage ditch and also took trips to fremont and other places to ride other backyard halfpipes.

after quitting skateboarding for about 10 years due to lack of terrain, the skatepark in omaha opened and inspired me to start riding again. in 1999, the omaha park and the skatepark effort in lincoln inspired me to start nebraska skateparks.com. since 1999 the number and variety of skateparks has increase considerably and the outlook for the future of skateparks in nebraska is very encouraging.

i hope you enjoy the site and feel free to send info about your local scene.
